Part 1 – Statement of Intent
This is the Health and Safety Policy Statement of KJFA.
Our health and safety policy is to:
- Prevent accidents and cases of work related to ill health
- Manage health and safety risks in our workplace
- Provide clear instructions and information to ensure employees are competent to do their work.
- Provide personal protective equipment, where necessary.
- Consult with our employees and customers on matters affecting their health within our work place and/or within the activity they are engaging in.
- Provide and maintain safe equipment
- Ensure safe handling of substances
- Maintain safe and healthy working conditions
- Implement emergency procedures, including evacuation in case of fire or significant incident.
- Review and revise this policy regularly.

Part 2 – Responsibilities for Health and Safety
- Overall and final responsibility for health and safety – Katharine Jennings (Owner)
- Day to day responsibilities for ensuring this policy is put into practice:

- Sarah Moulton (Admin an Studio Assistant)
- To ensure health and safety standards are maintained/improved, the following people have responsibility in the following areas:
- Katharine Jennings – Safety, risk assessments for adults and children aged 0-11
- Katharine Jennings, Megan Miles – Monitoring accident and ill health investigation, emergency procedures, fire and evacuation.
- Katharine Jennings, Megan Miles and Sarah Moulton – Maintaining equipment, information, instructions and supervision.
- Katharine Jennings – Training
- All employees should:
- Co-operate with supervisors and managers on health and safety matters
- Take reasonable care of their own health and safety; and
- Report all health and Safety concerns to Katharine Jennings.
Part 3 – Arrangements for Health and Safety
Risk Assessment:
- We will complete relevant risk assessments and take action
- We will review risk assessments when working habits or conditions change
Training:
- We will give staff and subcontractors appropriate training, including safeguarding.
- We will provide personal protective equipment, where necessary
- We will make sure suitable arrangements are in place for employees who work remotely.
Consultation:
- We will consult staff routinely on health and safety matters as they arise and formally when we review health and safety.
Evacuation:
- We will make sure escape routes are well signed and kept clear at all times.
- Evacuation plans are tested from time to time and updated if necessary.
- In case of an emergency evacuation, the assembly point will be outside the Rotherfield Stores at the corner of The Square and North Street, to the left of the premises of KJFA.
Accidents:
- We will keep an accident record, which will be held securely in the workplace.
- Each incident will be recorded and signed by injured party (or their parent/carer if under 18).
- A copy of the record will be given to the parent/carer (if injured party is under 18) or the injured party.
