But First, Hows the Summer Gone?
Well, it’s been hot! The studio is an old building and ordinarily that means that it should stay fairly cool, but the extreme heat has been extra-ordinary and we had a few days where the customers were forced to hold down their canvases and paper they were working on, for fear they would get blown away by the vast numbers of fans we had in the studio. It’s also not conducive to a whole studio full of excitable children, but we did it. The team and I persevered to stay with you for your affogatos, iced coffees, pink lattes and chilled fizzy drinks.
The Summer kicked off for us with our Annual Classical Art Summer Exhibition, which is on display until the week of the 7th September. A fantastic array of beautiful art adorns our walls from our very hardworking students in the Classical Art Classes and this year has been particularly significant because some of our longstanding students have really found their voice in their painting, which I am so proud of.
Then came the battle of the Swallows and the Amazons at our summer holiday club. Two amazing groups of children really got stuck into the spirit of Wild Cat Island to make racing boats, treasure chests, and treasure! Postcards from Windermere were made and written with the sweetest words straight from the children and it really was extremely enjoyable for all, despite the heat.
Each week we’ve seen our regulars and new customers arrive at the studio to enjoy coffee, food and art in its various forms. We have even become a firm favourite with a group of ladies who decided to start up their own personal craft group here, just for them.
Within the last week we have also launched our brand new Mini Monets Art Club with 7 families trying it out, giving valuable feedback and loving it. We are really looking forward the term starting on the 9th September .
It’s fair to say we have been very busy, even though they call it the ‘summer break’. We don’t stop for a moment, we can’t, we love it too much.
So now, we are buckling down and getting ready for the crazy cozy season and all that has to offer. So hold on to your hats, it’s going to be a fast ride!
